Once again, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation is taking a step forward in its journey to build a fairer and more equal society. Reinforcing its position on guaranteeing human rights and an environment based on respect for differences, the institution published its first policy on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
The aim of this policy is to guide the incorporation of practices that value inclusion, equity and diversity in all the Foundation’s dimensions and spheres of activity, establishing these values as intrinsic to its essence. It also seeks to promote this social commitment not only internally, but throughout its external chain of influence, such as in the partner institutions and communities supported by its programs and projects.
“With this material, we consolidate our commitment to strengthening diversity and inclusion in our culture, adopting behaviors such as increasingly active and responsible leadership, identifying and combating any kind of prejudice, and multiplying practices that respect the rights and needs of minority groups,” says Eduardo Fraguas, head of the Foundation’s People and Finance area.
The document outlines what initiatives shall be implemented in practice to promote this agenda, such as literacy and communication actions aimed at raising awareness and training members and target audiences on the subject. In addition, the monitoring of activities that promote inclusion shall be intensified through surveys, metrics and other indicators.
For Eduardo, the Policy on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion boosts the Foundation’s recognition as a promoter of these principles. “We want to establish a corporate governance model that takes this issue into account as part of its core and guarantees an environment free of discrimination, where people feel free to be who they are and feel they belong there,” he concludes.
