First phase of AH Laúca Transportation System concluded
DATE: 10/31/2018
In October, the Laúca Hydroelectric Project commemorated the conclusion of the first phase of the Transportation System project associated with AH Laúca. The hydropower plant, which is the largest project of Odebrecht Engineering & Construction in Angola, accounts for 40% of all the power produced in the country’s North System.
The project includes 305 km of 400 transmission lines installed and already in operation out of a total of 750 km to be delivered by 2020.
This first phase included the lines Laúca-Capanda (40 km), Laúca-Cambutas (75 km) and lastly Laúca-Catete, for which a 190-km transmission line was built, which resulted in the expansion of Substation 400 kV in Catete.
“The Laúca-Catete Transmission Line, which will improve the reliability of Angola’s power grid, will have the capacity to distribute the power produced by AH Laúca directly to the city of Luanda, thereby expanding the supply of electricity,” explained Leonardo Oikawa, manager of the project’s Transmission Lines.
