The TEM Boaventura Consortium, formed by Tenenge, EGTC Infra and Mota-Engil, has signed a contract with Petrobras for the construction of new industrial units at the Boaventura Energy Complex (formerly Comperj), in Rio de Janeiro. The consortium will be responsible for building two refining units never before implemented in Petrobras refineries: the Hydrogen Isomerization Dewaxing Unit (HIDW), for the production of Group II lubricants, and the Catalytic Hydrocracking Unit (HCC), producer of S-10 diesel and jet fuel (QAV). The investment in these units will be R$ 4.36 billion.

The works are part of a set of six major Petrobras EPC bids (including engineering, procurement and construction activities), which will integrate different processing and production units — from energy generation to fuels, including renewable sources. Altogether, the contracts amount to R$ 9.6 billion and are expected to generate approximately 15,000 direct jobs at the peak of activity.

With the Boaventura Refining Project, Petrobras will significantly expand its refining capacity in the state of Rio de Janeiro, increasing production by 76,000 barrels/day of S-10 diesel, 20,000 barrels/day of aviation kerosene (jet fuel), and 12,000 barrels/day of Group II lubricants, which have low sulfur content and offer improved performance and durability in various automotive and industrial applications.
