The third and last generating unit at the Baixo Iguaçu Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), located on the Iguaçu River in Paraná, started operating this Thursday, March 21. The Kaplan turbine for the 3rd unit was completed before the contract deadline and has the capacity to generate up to 116.7 MW.

The project, which began in 2013, is nearing completion. With the main stages of the civil works and assembly finalized, the teams will now focus on following-up and undertaking services that will ensure a complete handover of the hydroelectric power plant to the client, the Baixo Iguaçu Entrepreneurial Consortium (Neoenergia and Copel).

One of the energy ventures of lower environmental impact in the country, the Baixo Iguaçu HPP now has 350.2 MW of installed power, enough to serve one million people.
