Atvos issues 1 million Biofuel Decarbonization Credits – CBIO
DATE: 10/28/2020
Building a cleaner tomorrow, this mark is equivalent to 1 million tons of carbon dioxide not released in the atmosphere.
This week, Atvos registered 1 million Biofuel Decarbonization Credits (CBIOs) . The CBIOs are assets created by Renovabio’s National Biofuels Policy based on the volume of ethanol produced and its environmental energy efficiency. Each CBIO is equivalent to one ton of carbon dioxide not relased in the atmosphere.
The purpose of creating these decarbonization credits is to promote the large-scale use of renewable fuels in the country, compensating and encouraging producers, and reducing the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, following Brazil’s commitment with the Paris Agreement. With RenovaBio’s policy, the government forecasts a decrease of up to 10% in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in the national fuel matrix.
Achieving the goal of 1 million CBIOs issued is a way for Atvos to contribute to a cleaner future by improving air quality in big cities, creating jobs in new border regions with climate change mitigation, in addition to enhancing biofuel value, promoting greater energy security and ensure the predictability of investments in bio-economy.
Atvos is ready to renew and build a better future for everyone.
