Sale of RIOgaleão, Odebrecht TransPort asset
DATA: 07/13/2017
Dear Member,
This Thursday, Odebrecht TransPort announced the signature of a sale agreement for its 31% shareholding in RIOgaleão to the Chinese company HNA Infrastructure. It is an important advance in the plan to financially restructure and strengthen our companies’ capital structure.
This operation also has a relevant meaning for the legacy the Tom Jobim International Airport represents for the population of Rio de Janeiro.
Odebrecht has an outstanding history with Galeão.
It built Terminal 1 in the 1970 and
Terminal 2 in the 1980s.
And, despite long-term official financing restrictions, it expanded and completely transformed the airport for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and, from then on, the daily lives of thousands of passengers and tourists.
Galeão is one of the main benchmarks of our connection with the city of Rio de Janeiro. The benchmark of efficiency, comfort and safety in service provision.
Our appreciation goes out to those who took part in this journey over decades and, especially, to the Members who contributed to this transformation. Credit is due to them for equipping the city of Rio de Janeiro with an airport on a par with its importance.
I am sharing with you, below, the memorandum sent by Juliana Baiardi, the Business Leader of Odebrecht TransPort, to its Members.
Kind regards
Luciano Guidolin
CEO | Odebrecht S.A.
Dear Members,
Odebrecht TransPort signed a purchase and sale agreement with the Chinese company HNA Infrastructure to transfer all of its shares in RIOgaleão.
The sale of our shareholding has taken place following delivery of the most important stage of investments which was extending and modernizing the airport to host the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The transaction is still subject to preceding conditions, including approval by authorities, such as ANAC – the National Civil Aviation Agency and Cade – The Management Board of Economic Defense. The resources will be used to strengthen Odebrecht TransPort capital.
This is a further stage of the company’s restructuring. We continue to analyze the need and conditions for total or partial withdrawal of its share participation.
Our greatest commitment is guaranteeing the continuity of operations which benefit thousands of people. That is why I would like to thank everyone: members directly involved in the negotiations and teams determined to guarantee activities at a time of intense transformation.
Thank you for your dedication.
Kind regards,
Juliana Baiardi
