Atvos is honored for the second time at UN headquarters
DATE: 12/04/2018
On December 12, Atvos was honored at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York for its efforts focused on the inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the job market. This is the second time that the “Global Award for Good Practices in the Employment of Persons with Disabilities” is being given to Believing in Diversity, a program conceived by Atvos to train persons with disabilities living in the communities where it operates.
“Our efforts focused on diversity are essential to reducing the inequality in cities where we operate and contributes to the social inclusion of the participants,” highlighted Luiz de Mendonça, Business Leader of Atvos.
Developed by Energia Social in partnership with the National Industrial Training Service (Senai), the Believing in Diversity program offers courses that teach administrative routines at organizations in accordance with technical, environmental, quality, health and safety standards. “With this experience, we hope to raise awareness among other companies, including our partners and suppliers, to increase inclusion year after year,” highlighted Mr. Mendonça.
The first batch was trained in 2016 by the São Paulo Center in Teodoro Sampaio, SP, in which 17 students participated. The program has since been successfully extended to other centers. Today, 80 students have graduated and are prepared to enter the job market. “We have expanded the good practice developed by the São Paulo Center to our agroindustrial units,” explained Karina Fonseca, Director of People & Organization at Atvos. “And we are closely following the changing reality of the participants. We are very proud to receive this honor once again,” she concluded.
