Enseada Shipbuilding, Odebrecht Group’s shipbuilding arm, is participating in Rio Oil & Gas 2018, which is being held from Sept. 24 to 27 at Riocentro Exhibition & Convention Center. At the trade fair, the company presented its modern shipyard located in the Recôncavo region of the state of Bahia. The trade fair is Latin America’s largest gathering of oil and gas companies, in which few Brazilian shipyards participate.

The Enseada booth offered specialized technical service and distributed corporate materials. On Tuesday (25), the company hosted a cocktail for the public at its booth (pavilion 4 – M7), at which all of the company’s executive officers were present.

This year’s edition of the trade fair featured the slogan “Energy to Transform” and highlighted the industry’s resurgence supported by the recovery in oil prices and the new auctions slated for this year and 2019.

According to Enseada CEO Maurício Almeida, the company’s participation in the event marks its restructuring and showcases to the market a shipyard that is ready to operate with the highest international standards of productivity and quality.

“Our facilities are ready to meet the needs of the FPSO module construction market. We made a strategic investment and now are ready for the recovery in oil and gas industry,” Almeida added. Also according to him, “Brazil has highly-skilled companies and professionals to build the vessels and platforms the country needs, which creates new jobs and generates income in various regions of Brazil,” he noted.

    Advantages

The oil and gas sector accounts for the largest share of Enseada’s business plan, in which FPSO modules play a prominent role. The company has a very large industrial facility (equal to 211 football fields), with the capacity to build modules inside the shop and in the external heavy zones, under a 1,800-ton crane. The shipyard’s biggest advantage is that the 1,800-ton crane is capable of projecting itself over the water, enabling the integration of modules with the hull floating. Still in the oil and gas sector, the company focuses on Shuttle Tankers DP2 and FPSO Hulls. The cabotage market for large vessels also is an important business for Enseada. The company has the capacity to process up to 108,000 tons of steel per year (equivalent to six Aframax oil tankers per year).

Enseada currently is bidding on a contract to build four warships (corvettes) for the Brazilian Navy. The company is partnering with French-based Group (former DCNS) on the bid, which would represent a continuation of their successful partnership on the project to build Brazilian submarines in Rio de Janeiro.

    About Enseada

Enseada, which is one of the largest private investments of recent years in Bahia state, is a vehicle that consolidates all of the know-how and expertise of its shareholders in the shipbuilding and offshore construction industry. The shipyard is located in protected waters with a deep draft where there is no current or wind, and also no competition for mooring by other companies, as is the case in other regions. Creating jobs and income for the Recôncavo region of Bahia state, the shipyard has been recognized as an incubator of major offshore projects since the 1980s. After a R$3 billion investment, today Enseada owns the only fifth generation shipyard in Brazil.
