Atvos sponsors renowned event in the agroindustrial sector held in New York

Last Wednesday, Atvos participated in the ISO Datagro Sugar & Ethanol, held in New York. The event brought together industry leaders from around the world to reflect on key issues facing the sugar and ethanol industry.

During his presentation at the event, Marcelo Mancini, Commercial, Logistics, Procurement and Energy Vice President of Atvos, highlighted that “Brazil is capable of reducing the global sugar surplus resulting from this harvest due to its huge ethanol market.” According to him, in additional to high production flexibility and the competitive advantages created by the sugar and ethanol sector over the years, Brazil is the only country in the world with flexible-fuel vehicles (vehicles that run on more than one type of fuel) and with 27% anhydrous ethanol content (added to gasoline).

“The competitive advantage we have compared to other sugar producing countries is great. Our agroindustrial units have tremendous production flexibility and are capable of adjusting the sugar/ethanol mix according to market needs and of maximizing the sector’s profitability. However, the huge production volume from countries with high subsidies is changing the competitive landscape,” he explained.

Mancini also highlighted that Brazilian industries are constantly seeking technologies that offer greater efficiency and productivity. “Atvos is one good example of this. In just 10 years of operation, the company has consistently improved its operating indicators and is now ready for a new boom in Brazil’s bioenergy sector.”

Atvos has nine agroindustrial units located in four states across Brazil, which generate 11,000 direct jobs and over 40,000 indirect jobs. The company has the capacity to produce 3 billion liters of ethanol and 700,000 tons of sugar, and co-generation capacity of 3.1 thousand GWh of clean electricity.
