Odebrecht: Young Builder 2026 Concludes Development Journey and Strengthens the Future
DATE: 11/06/2026
After months of learning, challenges, and knowledge sharing, the 2026 edition of the Young Builder Program has come to an end. In this cycle, 30 young professionals from different environments and areas of activity within Odebrecht Engineering & Construction broadened their understanding of the business, strengthened connections, and developed essential skills to contribute to future challenges.
Guided by the Entrepreneurial Task, participants completed a learning journey of more than 80 hours, combining online and in-person activities. They explored different stages of the business, from Identification and Business Development to Execution, always connected to the principles of Our Culture and the practice of Dreaming the Client’s Dream. According to Paulo Quaresma, Director of People & Organization, programs such as this are fundamental to the company’s longevity. “By developing this new generation that is emerging and already working by and for the job, we are planting a seed for the future,” he stated.
Ana Flávia Salice, the program coordinator, reinforced the role of Young Builder in bringing team members closer to the company’s culture and business. “Our goal is to show young talent joining Odebrecht how the flow and processes of our culture and business work. They take part in several classes to understand everything from the business development process to project execution,” she explained.
The closing event, held from October 18 to 23 at the Odebrecht AFEq facility in Guarulhos, featured several lectures as well as the presentation of the final challenge, which proposed solutions to a real issue related to water reuse through the recharge of the Billings System watershed using Indirect Potable Reuse of effluents from the Barueri Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The activity put into practice skills such as collaboration, ownership, critical thinking, and teamwork. Evaluated by a panel composed of Odebrecht leaders, the presentations stood out for the quality of the solutions delivered and the commitment demonstrated by all participants.
For Aureo Leonardo Vilolo Luvualu, a young Odebrecht team member in Angola, the diversity of experiences was one of the program’s greatest strengths. “We had the opportunity to learn from different people, different leaders, with diverse experiences in construction sites and various programs. In addition, we had extensive interaction with different teams and cultures,” he emphasized.
Lorena de Sousa Vieira, a young Odebrecht team member in Brazil, recognized that the lessons learned will accompany her throughout her career. “I am certainly leaving here with much more knowledge and a much broader understanding of the whole business, and I will try to apply that in my daily routine in the best possible way,” she added.
As part of the closing program, moments such as the “Campfire Conversation” with Flávio Faria, Superintendent Director of Industrial Plants, were important opportunities for participants to hear success stories from within the company. According to the superintendent director, investing in the development of new generations is essential for the future. “If we do not have a well-trained young team, there will be no succession to ensure the continuity of the company. Therefore, this program is fundamental to Odebrecht’s existence,” he affirmed.
The transfer of knowledge between generations was also highlighted by Edmilson Pinto da Silva, General Foreman at ViaSul, during the “Master’s Life” session. “I want to pass on some of my knowledge to young people and newcomers. I always say: share your legacy. For me, that is very meaningful. If you want to be remembered, leave a legacy,” he said.
By completing this development program, participants are also concluding a journey that will leave a lasting impact on their professional paths. The knowledge acquired, the connections built, and the experiences shared will continue to serve as a foundation for each of them to keep building the future every day.
“Such an Organization of Knowledge-Based People must be capable of continuously reinventing and regenerating itself through creativity, innovation, and team spirit.”
Norberto Odebrecht
