The actions developed by the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) aimed at racial inclusion have led the institution to win the Ethnic-Racial Diversity Seal for the fourth consecutive time. Awarded by the Municipal Secretariat for Reparations (Semur) of Salvador, the Seal recognizes initiatives by public, private, and civil society organizations that contribute to promoting racial equity in the city.

The award ceremony, held in Salvador on December 13, brought together around 350 guests and was attended by the Municipal Secretary for Reparations, Ivete Sacramento, who presented the award to the Foundation, honored in the Recognition category. “The awarding of the Seal reinforces our commitment to the cause and motivates us to continue strengthening our actions. This achievement is also the result of the work carried out through our social program, PDCIS, to promote ethnic, racial, and gender diversity in the territories where it is implemented,” said Eduardo Fraguas, from the People and Finance area of FNO.

The award recognizes the impact of FNO’s actions in strengthening diversity and promoting a more equitable society.

PDCIS, which since 2003 has served the rural population of Baixo Sul da Bahia, benefits mostly black and brown people. “We understand that we reach this audience through a set of actions aimed at reducing inequalities and improving their living conditions,” adds Cristiane Nascimento, Director of FNO.

Created with the aim of encouraging the implementation of public policies for inclusion and racial reparations in organizations, the Ethnic-Racial Diversity Seal also requires awarded institutions to commit to developing strategies to combat racism in the workplace.

“As a black woman leading FNO, I value this initiative by SEMUR because it stimulates, within the internal scope of organizations, a commitment to the racial theme. It is an important movement to give visibility to the issue and promote reflections, something aligned with the values of the Foundation, where we increasingly seek to work with diversity,” concludes Cristiane.
