FutureCom: Technology Event Features OEC Presence

On October 10th, Cristiano Oliveira, BIM coordinator at OEC, represented the construction company at the FutureCom event, held at the São Paulo Expo. FutureCom is considered the main B2B business platform in Latin America, bringing together the ecosystem of network infrastructure, connectivity, and technology applied to various sectors of the economy, including engineering.

The event addressed topics such as IoT (Internet of Things) and communication and monitoring systems. OEC’s participation in events like this demonstrates the company’s initiative to stay abreast of discussions on ideas and technologies that can be applied to construction.

Cristiano participated in the event in two capacities: as a speaker and as a moderator. In his speech, he discussed “Project Management: Rethinking Public Spaces with the Use of New Technologies.” The debate, which also included the participation of Santi Ferri, director of Artesp, was moderated by Camila Pimenta, director of SENAI-SP.

The discussion revolved around the transformations observed in the execution of infrastructure works, especially in public areas, largely due to the use of BIM (Building Information Modelling), as well as the use of drones and related technologies. Best practices and new ways to face construction challenges were also the focus of the dialogue among the speakers, who concluded on the importance of training people for the correct use of the various technologies available today.

As a moderator, Cristiano was present at the lecture “From Prediction to Prevention: How Technology Can Transform Disaster Management.” The talks were given by Thyago Braun (Ministry of Communications), Emerson Alves da Silva (Environmental Research Institute of the Secretariat of the Environment), Willians Bini (Senior Consultant in Climate and Climate Change), Eloi Stivalleti (Eutelsat Oneweb), and José Marengo (National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of Natural Disasters – Cemaden). Global warming set the tone for the debate, with recent examples of climate disasters in Rio Grande do Sul and Florida, situations where the use of Artificial Intelligence can help anticipate diagnoses, in addition to the dissemination of applications that can assist communities with climate guidance.

For Cristiano, it is important that OEC is present in forums of this nature. “The discussions were extremely useful. It became evident the urgent need to seek collaboration and integration for the good use of available technologies, something impossible to achieve without investing time and resources in training people: from decision-makers to users of available resources and those to come,” he evaluates.
