Gás Sul Terminal reaches new milestone with berthing of FSRU Energos Winter
DATE: 03/01/2024
On February 25, the Gás Sul Terminal in Santa Catarina reached a new milestone with the successful mooring of the Energos Winter FSRU(Floating Storage Regasification Unit). The ship has the capacity to transport up to 160,000 cubic meters of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and can regasify up to 15 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Its total length is 277 meters and its width is 43.3 meters.
In the next stages of the project, Tenenge will interconnect the FSRU using flexible hoses to inject gas into the maritime terminal, which is already connected by 33 kilometers of 20-inch pipelines to a custody station that will be responsible for controlling and measuring the gas to be delivered to TBG (Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil S/A), operator of the Bolivia-Brazil gas pipeline.
The near completion of the project represents the strengthening of the natural gas transportation infrastructure in the region. Located 300 meters off the coast of the city of São Francisco do Sul, in Babitonga Bay, the Gás Sul Terminal will play a key role in the supply of natural gas, representing a significant increase in the availability of energy in the state of Santa Catarina. The infrastructure built will receive, store, regasify and distribute the natural gas that will arrive by sea via methane ships and will be transferred via the ship-to-ship system to a floating storage and regasification unit, from where it will leave for the mainland via pipelines.
