OEC’s Contracts Director for the São Paulo market, Giorgio Bullaty, was interviewed by the specialized magazine Portos e Navios for an article on the prospects for the development of port projects in the country.
According to the publication, the sector has a package of projects aimed at expanding port capacity over the next five years, which should heat up the market for engineering and construction companies. There is also an expectation that the 137 projects in this segment planned in the new PAC (Growth Acceleration Program), which foresees around R$ 55 billion in investments by 2026, could help confirm the sector’s good momentum.
Listened to together with other experts, Bullaty discusses what he thinks needs to be done so that the projects can actually get off the ground. One of the “stumbling blocks”, according to him, is the shortage of qualified labor for certain projects, which makes it essential for both the public and private sectors to train workers. He takes the opportunity to mention the example of the OEC Education program, implemented by the construction company.
