2022 Annual Report highlights expansion of Norberto Odebrecht Foundation actions

Document presents the results of the institution’s Social Program and the new initiatives created in the past year.

The Norberto Odebrecht Foundation’s 2022 Annual Report was launched on Wednesday, July 12. The publication, which you can read at this link, describes the main results achieved by the institution in the past year, such as benefiting over 12,000 people in 188 communities in Bahia through the PDCIS Social Program. the expansion of the Program to Rio de Janeiro; and the creation and coordination of new social initiatives, materializing commitments to an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) action that positively impacts people and territories.

In the opening of the report, Superintendent Fabio Wanderley reiterated how the document reflected the expansion of the institution’s actions. “We have realized that PDCIS has made us the holders of a portfolio of impactful solutions to drive organizations, companies, and individuals,” he wrote, highlighting how this work was recognized with the award for the best NGO in Bahia and one of the top 100 NGOs in the country by Instituto Doar in 2022.

The superintendent also highlighted the new mission, defined last year, to reinforce the commitment to social transformation and to an action that represents the needs of society. “Revisiting this trajectory, we decided to define the Foundation’s new mission: to educate to impact lives that transform tomorrow,” he said.

PDCIS

The Social Program coordinated by the Foundation has contributed to 14 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Working together with the social organizations supported by the Foundation, PDCIS achieved important results in 2022 in the Southern Bahia Lowlands. The initiative contributed to the planting of 39,000 native trees in the Atlantic Forest; facilitated the training of 287 young individuals in technical courses integrated with high school education. the restoration of 22 springs; the protection of 118 aquatic ecosystems; and the production of more than 1 ton of food from family farming. With these results, the PDCIS contributed to 14 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). supporting 49 out of the 169 targets defined in the agenda.

The year 2022 also marked the continued expansion of PDCIS to Rio de Janeiro. In partnership with Ocyan, an oil and gas company from the Novonor Group, the implementation of practices from the Program benefited approximately 100 people in the community of Sana, in Macaé. One of the impacted family farmers was Adevanildo Moreira, who expressed hope for the impact of PDCIS in his life: “With more people helping us sell our products, we will be able to plant even more. Who knows, there might be money left over to buy machinery, or to create more jobs for those who need them,” he said.

New projects

Among the new initiatives created and coordinated by the Foundation in 2022, two corporate volunteer initiatives stand out, carried out in collaboration with companies from the Novonor Group: “Na Onda do Bem” (“On the Wave of Goodness”) in partnership with Ocyan, an Oil and Gas company, and “VOCÊ” (“YOU”) with OEC, an Engineering and Construction company. Designed to connect PDCIS beneficiaries with company members through life and career mentoring, the two actions brought together 120 participants and promoted more than 1,600 hours of volunteer work.

In 2022, the Foundation team developed and implemented new social initiatives, such as volunteer programs and an award for NGOs in Salvador

Another initiative launched during the past year was the Strong NGO Project. With the aim of strengthening the institutional capacity of a non-profit organization in Salvador (BA) through personalized management consulting, the initiative was carried out in partnership with the Maria Emília Foundation. With 30 applications received through the call for proposals and a selection process consisting of multiple stages, ONG Forte selected a winner – the Association of Residents of Conjunto Santa Luzia – who received the award in the first semester of 2023.

Strengthening and expansion

The Annual Report also addresses how the Foundation looks towards the future, with the creation of an endowment fund and the commitment to further expand its portfolio of initiatives, leveraging its consolidated experience in the field to promote sustainable development in marginalized urban communities. A direction that follows the founder Norberto Odebrecht’s dream of expansion and brings the Foundation closer to its vision, defined in 2022, to be recognized for multiplying socio-environmental impact solutions to build a sustainable future.”
