Foundation receives Seal of Ethnic and Racial Diversity
DATE: 01/03/2022
Award recognizes the Foundation’s efforts on behalf of diversity
The Norberto Odebrecht Foundation received the Ethnic-Racial Diversity Seal from the Municipal Secretariat of Reparation (SEMUR) of the Salvador Municipal Government (BA). The recognition is given to non-profit entities that work for the valorization of diversity, and aims at raising the awareness of society and the job market on the fight against racism. With the Seal, the Foundation will participate in a network of companies and organizations that can promote the exchange of information and experiences on how to encourage racial equity.
“It is not possible to talk about sustainable development without valuing diversity, and without fighting for people to be able to grow and improve their lives regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or culture,” says Beatriz Lepikson, responsible for People, Finance, and Compliance at the Foundation. “So we are very happy with this recognition. After all, our Social Program seeks to promote education, economic development, and harmony with the environment in priority vulnerable communities in regions with many inequalities, such as those generated by racism,” she explains.
The Foundation promotes the fight against poverty and inequality by coordinating the PDCIS, a Social Program with almost two decades of existence. With six action fronts – education for sustainable development, economic development, environmental conservation, innovation and technology, citizenship and governance, and social cohesion and mobilization – the Program seeks to strengthen family farming, respecting the vocation of the benefited communities to leverage economic growth with inclusion, in harmony with the environment.
