Meet the winners of the 2017 Destaque Awards
DATE: 12/19/2017
In 2017, the Destaque Awards mobilized around 1,500 team members from all companies and business units, who developed and submitted 535 projects. The subjects were diverse but involved innovation in the works and projects in the eight countries where we operate. Another 315 team members provided assistance to the awards through Appraisal Committees that analyzed the entries. In addition, 6,882 team members participated in the vote, which was open to all team members.
The subject of Innovation once again stood ahead of the rest, numbering 198 projects. This year, the awards introduced a new category: Acting with Ethics, Integrity and Transparency. “We wondered if introducing this new category would be a premature move, but 20 projects were submitted, which shows that the culture is disseminating intensely across the Odebrecht Group companies,” said Olindina Domingues, head of Ciaden, the knowledge and information department that supports business development.

Acting with Ethics, Integrity and Transparency
OR
The real estate market involves the purchase and sale of high-value assets, which is why it is used in many countries as an instrument for money laundering, masking the nature and source of funds associated with this illegal activity. Guided by the commitment to act with ethics, integrity and transparency, OR has established the “Know your client” process, which expands the scope of negotiation of its real estate assets and products.

Sustainable partnership: Aston Martin Racing and Atvos
Atvos has innovated by signing in October 2016 a partnership agreement with the British racing team Aston Martin Racing (AMR) to neutralize its carbon emissions. Atvos, which produces ethanol, sugar and electricity, captures more greenhouse gases than it emits into the atmosphere. With this partnership, the company compensated the racing team’s emissions at the FIA World Endurance Championship GT competitions in 2016 and 2017.
Innovation
Braskem
Gains from the Use of Ultrasonic Cleaning In Large Industrial Equipment
In industrial plants, dirt in the equipment reduces efficiency. For this reason, industrial cleaning solutions are highly important, with high pressure hydro jetting being the most widely used method. This method, however, has its own limitations and risks, which leads to the constant search for other solutions. The winning project presents as an alternative the use of ultrasonic cleaning technique for large pieces of equipment.

Increase in recovered flow of flare gas at Q1 BA
The project enabled an increase in the recovered flow of fuel gas by compressors that make up the flare system at the chemicals unit 1 (A-1050). The purpose of the flare system is to collect hydrocarbon streams that cannot be released into the atmosphere and must be burned in the torch. Two compressors recover a part of this stream to send it to the fuel gas system. In order to reduce losses and optimize the operation of compressors, the authors of the project implemented monitoring indicators and mapped diverse factors that affected the operational continuity of these machines.

Reuse of Plastic Scrap in a Wecycle® Product
Reducing waste, especially sacks, has always been a priority at Braskem. With the National Solid Waste Plan, companies in the consumption sector have sought to increase the volume of recycled content in their packaging. The project turned a problem faced by Braskem (waste generation) into a product with high commercial value (PCR resin). A system of collection and formulations was developed to arrive at the new product, which was incorporated into Braskem’s Wecycle® Platform that develops recycled resins for the market.

Animals Quenching Thirst in Upcountry Alagoas
The 24 reservoirs built by the construction teams stored more than 240 million liters of water, which was used to quench the thirst of animals and to irrigate plantations at the lowest possible cost for families in the vicinity. The initiative – organized in partnership with the local community, client, as well as inspection and environmental agencies – also resulted in a volume of 244,000 m³ of top category material extracted.

High Operating Performance in Drilling Oil Wells
The Brazilian drilling market witnessed a reduction of over 50% in the number of drilling rigs in the last three years, maintaining in operation only those units with an excellent cost-benefit trade-off for the client. To remain competitive and be able to execute and acquire new contracts, investing in operating performance is crucial. The project demonstrated a few solutions implemented by the company to ensure the continuous improvement of its operations, especially at Odn Delba 3.
Occupational Health and Safety
Odebrecht Oil & Gas
Medical Unit for Complementary Examinations in Macaé
The Medical Unit for Complementary Examinations in Macaé was conceived in 2014 and concluded in October 2015, after which complementary examinations started being held “in company”. The goal was to raise the quality and reliability of complementary examinations, shorten the period for releasing the results, reduce costs and concentrate the highest number of examinations in a single location, bringing the function of occupational health to within the business facilities.
To date, more than 7,000 projects have already been registered in the Odebrecht Knowledge Network and have been shared, promoting and integrating all the areas and businesses.
