  • 8th edition of Braskem’s Design Challenge has as partners such as Grupo Boticário and BRF

    This year’s edition is already open for registration and will challenge professional designers to develop creative and sustainable packing solutions

    Starting on October 16, Braskem opened the registrations for the 8th edition of the Design Challenge. This year, the initiative will be aimed at professionals in the Product Design area. They will be challenged to solve packing related issues following the Design for Environment concept, which seeks to reduce environmental impacts considering the product’s entire life cycle.

    The challenge of the edition will be “to find concrete and sustainable packing solutions “, for two Braskem partners: BRF, a multinational food company that owns Sadia and Perdigão brands; and the Boticário Group, owner of the beauty brands: O Boticário, Eudora, Quem disse, Berenice?, BeautyBox, Multi-B, Vult and Beleza na Web. The winning idea, evaluated according to pre-established criteria, will receive a prize of R$ 20,000.00. The criteria for evaluating proposals are: innovation, Implementation feasibility and alignment with the Life Cycle Assessment tool (LCA), essential aspects in the development of solutions  that will prove the reduction of the environmental impact of the projects presented.

    Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, all steps were adapted to take place in a 100% digital and online environment, which will enable the participation of professionals from all over the country. To register visit the website ( link ) until October 30th. As a prerequisite , it is necessary to be trained in the related area between the years of 2015 and 2020. After the registration period, a webinar will be carried out, where companies will give more information about the program, on November 11th.

    “We believe in the Design Challenge as a tool that can bring academic ecosystems, young professionals and the market closer for the development of innovative ideas and social and environmental impact in the initial phase of the production cycle – Design. Through the program, participants, our customers and partners have the effective opportunity to implement the concept of circular economy since the conception of the packages”, evaluates Fabiana Quiroga, director of Circular Economy of Braskem in South America.

That is why we want to take part in initiatives like Braskem’s Design Challenge”, says Paulo Roseiro, director of Research and Development of the Boticário Group.

    The schedule of this challenge’s edition will take place as follows:

    Registration: from October 16th – 30th

    Disclosure of selected participants: November 5th  (total of 24 participants; 12 professionals per hackathon).

    – Boticario Group Challenge

    Pre-hackathon: November 14th;

    Hackathon: November 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

    – BRF Challenge

    Pre-hackathon: November 28th;

    Hackathon: December 5th, 6th and 7th.
