Works advance and gain pace on the Minérios Highway
DATE: 05/27/2020
Six precast beams, 39 meters long and weighing 74 tons each, were launched on May 8th, concluding another important stage of the duplication of the PR-092, the Minérios Highway, which is being executed by OEC between the cities of Curitiba and Almirante Tamandaré, in Paraná.
The operation involved the participation of approximately 50 people and two cranes, the largest of which had the capacity to lift up to 220 tons of cargo. Following OEC’s premise of promoting the economy around its projects, the parts were ordered from the local industry and traveled 31 kilometers between the production and installation sites. The handling of this cargo was the subject of detailed planning, as it passed through federal and state highways with heavy traffic, requiring the issuance of licenses, roadblocks and the use of escort vehicles to arrive safely at the destination.
The operation was carried out as planned and was supported by the internal specialists in cargo handling, Jacques Raigorodsky and Debora Coting, who helped in the validation of the Rigging Plan and operation of the launch. “The integration between the teams was essential for the entire operation to have occurred within the parameters provided and with all the necessary security”, explained Ricardo Corregio, PR-092’s Contract Manager.
The action concluded today shows the effectiveness of the work. The foundation of bridge 01 started on February 25 and now, the launch of the beams has been completed. The schedule has been strictly adhered to and provides for the complete execution of the structure of this bridge in a total of 120 days. The next steps are the execution of the board and finishes, with the expected release of traffic in June.
Interventions
The duplication work on the Minérios Highway includes the construction of new lanes, marginal roads, bridges, viaducts, footbridges, sidewalks and cycle paths in the stretch between Curitiba and Almirante Tamandaré, over a length of 4.74 kilometers. Also included in the scope are the horizontal signage services (painting of lines, bands, symbols and placement of reflective tacks) and vertical signage (signs), lighting with posts at intervals of 40 meters, containment with embankments and tossed curtains, in addition to services complementary such as shelters at bus stops, fences, access ramps, tactile flooring and the reorganization of water and sewage networks, among others.
Social action
In addition to the responsibility for the project, the PR-092 contract team proved that it also dedicates time and resources to the surrounding community. In late April, five hundred food baskets also containing personal hygiene items were donated to families in Almirante Tamandaré, a city located in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The donations were received personally by the mayor of the city, Gerson Colodel, and by the secretary of Social Development, Ernesto Rossi. The action is part of the actions to combat the Coronavirus that have been undertaken by OEC in the communities where it operates. All food baskets were purchased from local businesses with the aim of boosting the region’s own economy. In addition to this action, the local management of the OEC had already sent a letter to the Government of the State of Paraná offering machinery and labor for the eventual need to build equipment to support the fight against the pandemic, such as field hospitals.
