New OEC IN e-book with reflections about innovation in civil construction is launched
DATE: 04/29/2025
Odebrecht Engineering and Construction has just launched its newest e-book “Building Innovation”, with articles produced by members and partners during the year 2024, reinforcing the company’s commitment to boosting the innovation in the construction sector. The launch took place at Inovabra Habitat on April 22, during an event to present the ISO 56000 standards (Guidelines for managing innovation in organizations), bringing together professionals and companies from the innovation ecosystem.
The e-book – an annual project that is part of OEC IN, the company’s institutional innovation program – highlights the importance of open innovation, a collaborative culture and the development of solutions to overcome market challenges. The publication covers a range of relevant topics, from the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) to the application of Artificial Intelligence and the use of sustainable materials.
Among the articles published is a discussion on the importance of BIM as an innovation tool and the need for a systemic approach involving technology, processes and people to ensure effective application and the corresponding benefits in the production chain. Paperless” initiatives were also highlighted in the publication, demonstrating how automation and digitization of processes can increase productivity, reduce costs and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Another relevant topic is the impact of generative Artificial Intelligence on the sector. The content explores the potential of AI to automate design, optimize resources, plan construction sequences and personalize processes, boosting efficiency, innovation and sustainability. The e-book also discusses the use of plastics in a sustainable way, replacing traditional materials and contributing to waste reduction.
The need to create an innovative work environment that encourages experimentation, calculated risk-taking and the generation of new ideas is also addressed among the selected articles. Collaboration, clear communication, active leadership and the development of reward models are identified as key factors for the success of innovation programs in companies.
For Daniel Lepikson, Innovation Manager at OEC, the organizational implementation of BIM at OEC demonstrates how the company overcame the challenges of a single, decentralized culture and promoted the adoption of the tool at a corporate level. “The standardization of processes, team training and efficient communication are crucial to the success of the BIM implementation strategy, resulting in a significant increase in the number of projects using the tool and this is the result of the leaders understanding the importance of this evolution in our company,” he says.
