Winner Case of Destaque Award Presentend by the Foundation in Webinar
DATE: 06/13/2025
On Thursday, June 12, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation presented the results of the expansion project of PDCIS, its social program aimed at sustainable territorial development, during the webinar promoted by the Destaque Award. The case, titled “The Impact of Private Social Investment on the Surrounding Community,” was the winner in the Sustainability category in the 2024 edition of the award.
The presentation was conducted by Wendy Wicks, a member of FNO’s Sustainability area, and brought together about 90 members of the Novonor Group in an online meeting. Wendy shared the Foundation’s experience in reapplying PDCIS in Sana, a mountainous region in the municipality of Macaé (RJ), carried out in conjunction with Ocyan, an Oil and Gas company, and the municipality’s city hall, marking the first expansion of the program outside the South region of Bahia, where it has been operating for over two decades.
The project began in 2022 and was completed in December 2024, directly benefiting 94 family farmers and indirectly impacting 910 people in seven local communities. Focusing on three pillars – rural technical assistance, management training and market access, and investment in inputs for production diversification – the initiative promoted an agroecological transition in the region and contributed to the advancement of 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“When you develop a project adapted to the reality of a community, you create much greater competitiveness in relation to the ESG agenda. This reapplicability brings a great differential through the entire monitoring and evaluation system that is done, all the evidence generates security and reliability for us to report these results,” highlighted Wendy during the event.
At the end of the presentation, Cristiane Nascimento, director of the foundation, gave a speech and reinforced the dynamic and scalable nature of PDCIS. “It is very alive and current. We observe the new demands and needs of the communities and update the program with new social technologies. It is a pleasure, through it, to be able to contribute to new regions, and thus leave our legacy as our founder dreamed,” she said. From a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in December 2024 with Odebrecht E&C Angola and the Agricultural Development Support Fund , PDCIS is moving towards its first international reapplication, this time to strengthen family farming in Angolan lands.
