In 2022, Horiens launched another communication channel to share knowledge regarding risks and insurance. This is HORIENTe-se, the company’s webcast, which in its first edition addressed a current and relevant topic for companies in all sectors: cyber risks and data protection.

The Head of Technology and Innovation at Horiens, Paula Caixeta, invited the lawyer and Head of Data Protection at Viseu Advogados, Antonielle Freitas, to discuss this topic.

What can you do to protect your company in times of digital revolution?

This central question was the starting point of the webinar, which shed light on the exponentially increasing scenario of cyber risks. “The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated digitalization and this has obviously produced more risks to companies and people,” Viseu Advogados’ Antonielle pointed out.

Brazil is currently the second largest global target of cyber-attacks, so it is necessary to act with agility and consistency to face the situation, with the implementation of governance and data protection programs structured and commensurate with the risks, in addition to maximum attention to regulatory issues, such as the General Law of Data Protection (LGPD), among others.

“Insurers are currently showing little appetite for cyber risks, which makes it costly and complex for companies to transfer risks to the insurance market,” explained Horiens’ Paula Caixeta. “To this end, we have been guiding our clients to have clear actions aimed at data governance and data protection. The companies that do not prepare themselves adequately to face this scenario are unquestionably more vulnerable and may have problems”, she added.
