Vacation Internship Sets Historic Record of 56,970 Entries

This time, eligible students included those from the areas of Administration, Accounting Sciences, Communication, Law, Economy, Engineering, Statistics, and Psychology

The registration period for Vacation Internship closed October 17 with a historic record: over 56,970 CVs were sent to compete for one of 50 internship openings at Odebrecht. The last record for the program, considered an important door of entry for new members into the Group, was set in 2016. During the second half of last year, 46,800 students signed up for an internship at the company in January of this year.

This time, the Group opened positions to work at Odebrecht Engineering & Construction, Odebrecht TransPort and Odebrecht Real Estate Developments at projects underway in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and Pernambuco. The selection process will reveal the name of the 50 selected individuals in December.

One of the explanations for the initiative’s success is the informal publicity by the students themselves at the universities. “I have participated in other internships, and the experience at Odebrecht is undoubtedly the one that most benefited me. The attention that the company’s professionals give the trainees is unparalleled.” Gabriel Assis is a Civil Engineering student who served as intern at the Baixo Iguaçu Hydroelectric Power Plant construction site.

“Besides increasing the number of participating majors, we also invested in publicity on the channels used by the youth, such as Facebook and Instagram,” explained Ana Clara Ribeiro, head of the Vacation Internship Program at Odebrecht Engineering and Construction. “Despite being brief, the program is intense and enriching for students and for the teams that work with them,” she said.

Surveys with Youth

Recent surveys reveal that we are one of the best companies for people to start out their careers in Brazil. Last month, we ranked 11th place in the Company of Youth’s Dreams survey, conducted by NextView People and Grupo Cia de Talentos. A ranking published in August in Você S/A magazine listed the companies that ranked the highest among Brazilian youth, and Braskem came in 35th place. The survey Best Companies to Start Out Your Career is the only one in Brazil exclusively for this public. It evaluates the work environment at companies and their people management practices. Also this year, a consulting firm asked more than 20,000 Brazilian Engineering students the question: where would you like to work? Published by Exame Magazine in August, the survey revealed that we are the third most highly-recalled company for this public.
