  • Journey to the Future program presents its results at Odebrecht meeting

    More than 1,400 college students signed up in 2017 for the Journey to the Future program, in which Odebrecht Group is a participant. Conceived by Cia de Talentos, the project brings college students closer to the job market through diverse activities involving the 14 partner companies and online workshops.

    The results obtained by the program last year were presented at the Odebrecht São Paulo Building last Wednesday, in the presence of around 40 representatives from companies, universities, partner institutions and Cia de Talentos itself.

    “Today’s youth is overloaded with information and our objective is to help them developing their self-knowledge so that they can make well-informed career choices, while also honing their behaviors and skills that the market considers essential,” said Sofia Esteves, founder and chairwoman of the DMRH Group, the holding company of Cia de Talentos.

    Students from the five participating schools are mainly enrolled in the Management (37%), Engineering (34%) and Social Communications (19%) programs. Among the activities offered throughout the year are workshops on self-knowledge, culture and values, case resolution in companies, technical visits and lectures from executives.

    In 2017, Odebrecht organized five activities for the students, including tours to the subway construction works and cases studies on the recovery of reputation and financial restructuring.  It also offered six students the opportunity to participate in vacation internships at one of the Group’s Businesses.

    “I imagine that all partner companies feel this gap between what the youth expects of work and what the market expects he has acquired in terms of skills and knowledge at the university. That is why this initiative is most welcome. Participating in this project is also part of Odebrecht’s moment of regaining its right to exist. Being able to count on the trust of youth is essential for our capacity to recover,” said Daniel Villar, Director of Functional Support for Planning and People.

    For 2018, Sofia said she plans to capitalize on potential synergies among the participating companies to create thorough immersion experiences for students.  The goal of the program is to help 5,000 youth to choose their careers by 2022.
