Cauê Borges Maia and Tatiana Menez, members of OEC’s sustainability team, visited the construction sites of the Novo Marapicu Reservoir and Campo Grande Road Link, in Rio de Janeiro, between May 15 and 16, to monitor the process of auditing the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory. The visit is part of the annual independent verification process and backs up the quality of the OEC’s reporting.

The verification process is required for the publication of the OEC inventory in the Public Registry of Gold Seal Emissions. The certifier, the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), chose the two construction sites to carry out the verification. The analysis assesses all sources of emissions, whether direct (Scope 1 and Scope 2) or indirect (Scope 3). This is a way of checking which emissions come from the operations and activities carried out by the company. The audit attests to the timeliness, completeness and comprehensiveness of the inventory by awarding the Gold Seal to the OEC.

Cauê has been leading this process since 2019, with Tatiana’s help. OEC has been carrying out these studies for 14 years, and for the last 10 years it has maintained the Gold Seal in the GHG (Green House Gas) Protocol program, which attests to the company’s commitment to consolidating one of the most extensive collections of GHG data in our sector.
