Odebrecht Participates in Event on the “Caatinga” Biome
DATE: 09/03/2025

From August 29 to 31, the SOS Caatinga Institute held the 8th edition of the event “48 Hours of Adventure in the Caatinga” in São José da Tapera, Alagoas. Created in 2016, the initiative aims to share knowledge about one of Brazil’s least-studied biomes, understanding its behavior and biodiversity — both fauna and flora — through lectures and hands-on activities led by professionals.
Cleidson Rigaud, Socioenvironmental Manager at Odebrecht Engineering &Construction, participated as a speaker, presenting on the topic “ESG Actions (Environmental, Social, and Governance) in the “Sertão Alagoano” Water Supply Canal – Section 5.” The event also welcomed various professionals and students from environmental fields, such as Biomedics and biologists, for knowledge and experience exchange on diverse topics.
For Cleidson, events like this are great opportunities to disclose Odebrecht’s ESG commitments. “The invitation to the project and the opportunity to share our practices, connecting actions and important demands to key stakeholders, help build relationships that benefit operations. Actively participating in these agendas shows that the company operates responsibly and in alignment, guided by its values. The Sertão Alagoano Water Supply Canal, one of Brazil’s largest water infrastructure projects, and the sensitivity of the Caatinga biome demand our full attention in managing socioenvironmental issues,” he said.
