DATE: 07/24/2025
Odebrecht Engineering & Construction held the third edition of the BIM Workshop on July 15 and 16. The initiative aims to spread best practices and increase team members’ knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling), reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation. The event, organized by Odebrecht’s BIM Core Team, brought together prominent experts from the market and academia, such as Eduardo Toledo, André Fregolente, Joyce Delatorre, and Rogério Lima.
During the first day, Sarah Silva from Odebrecht’s Innovation team presented the current BIM landscape within the company and ongoing strategic actions. Joyce Delatorre from Autodesk introduced the “Forma” solution, a cloud collaboration platform that unifies workflows and includes AI features. Cesar Calderaro from Construtivo showcased the “Cintoo” tool, designed for handling data obtained through reality capture processes. Representing Hexagon, André Fregolente discussed BIM in the industrial sector, emphasizing the importance of defining workflows to ensure smooth information flow in EPC contracts, and reflecting on the challenges and complexities of the sector. Álvaro Cavalcanti and Clauss Ocke concluded the day by presenting the Guaratuba Bridge case, highlighting the importance of a well-defined BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and cross-functional collaboration.
The second day began with the presentation “The BIM of Tomorrow” by Prof. Dr. Eduardo Toledo, who discussed key BIM trends and the understanding of BIM as innovation. Rogério Lima, director of the Zigurat Institute, a partner of Odebrecht, spoke about AI in Construction and BIM, stressing the importance of well-classified objects, structured information, and defined uses to apply AI to an organized data base. Representing SPBIM, Julio Cesar demonstrated the use of reality capture and project development for the façade of the Torre Rio Claro Offices. Architect Rogério Suzuki from Vistta|S Consultoria closed the event by presenting tools for construction simulation studies (“4D studies”), highlighting the Simple BIM software, which allows editing object attributes in existing models, avoiding rework and leveraging information from previous stages.
The Workshop reinforced that BIM is maturing in the market being also a relevant topic at Odebrecht. It is crucial to consider the specificities of each market and contract alongside technological advancements to generate the necessary synergy and achieve observable results. Odebrecht’s strategic actions aim to explore BIM innovation to spread best practices in Digital Engineering across construction sites.
