DATE: 05/03/2019
In 2018, the Odebrecht Foundation conducted an Impact Assessment of the Program for Sustainable Integrated Growth and Development (PDCIS). Supported by scientific rigor, the unprecedented study enabled the foundation to verify the transformations that its social program carried out in the Lowlands of Southern Bahia promotes in the lives of the youth and households benefitted. The steps of the methodology and the results can be read in the full report of the assessment, which is available on the foundation’s website.
In PDF format and available only in Portuguese, the publication compiles the parameters adopted by the specialized consulting firm JS/Brasil, which is responsible for leading the project. The report also shows how the data was collected and presents profiles of the interviewees. In all, more than 300 people were interviewed and 190 rural properties were visited.
The comprehensive report presents the results and economic, social and environmental impacts achieved, which include households’ decreased reliance on funds from the Bolsa Família welfare program and a lower unemployment rate among the youth who participated in the program compared to non-beneficiaries. It also presents the stories of the lives transformed as well as testimonials from partners, from leaders of the civil society organizations that are part of the PDCIS and from members of JS/Brasil.
“We hope that the publication’s content, which is transparent and detailed, contributes so that investors, government authorities and civil society can confirm the importance of investments in social programs such as ours and learn about its rate of return for the public,” said Fabio Wanderley, Superintendent at the Odebrecht Foundation.
