Horiens promotes meeting with policyholders to talk about preventive health
DATE: 05/07/2025
In this month in which World Health Day is celebrated, Horiens held a special live event for policyholders who are part of the collective health insurance policies it manages, in support of companies from various market segments.
The event, led by the nurse Bruna Schossler, a specialist in quality of life care, was held on Tuesday, April 15, bringing together our policyholders to talk about the topic “Health is a choice”.
Érica Cela, from the People Insurance team at Horiens and mediator of the live, emphasizes that this is a company initiative focused on preventive education with the aim of supporting all policyholders in achieving greater health and well-being.
“Prevention is a central issue in corporate health management, as it has a positive impact on both the quality of life of employees and the balance of health insurance policies.” She adds: “That’s why we support our clients throughout the year with a series of campaigns and educational actions like this one.”
What have you done for your health today?
During the online meeting, Bruna addressed the essential pillars for building a healthy lifestyle, such as sleep, diet, physical activity and mental health care.
“The key word in life is balance and, in order to move in this direction, it is essential to have information,” said Bruna. “That’s why being here together talking about health is an important step. For some it will be a reinforcement, for many others it could be a turning point,” she added.
The power of habit
One of the themes Bruna highlighted was the need to adopt healthy habits. But if on the one hand this is very relevant, on the other it’s also quite challenging, isn’t it? How, after all, can we bring about real changes in our behavior?
“Every habit can be changed, with awareness and persistence. My tip, based on the book ‘The Power of Habit’ by Charles Duhigg, is to identify triggers that set off harmful behaviors and replace them with healthier routines. Over time, the brain associates the trigger with this new routine. You have to stop and think about it and then put it into practice,” she explains.
Seek for help
Another subject highlighted in the live was the importance of seeking help. “Nobody is alone, it’s normal not to know where to start, so ask for help. Having guidance is fundamental,” said Bruna.
Health professionals such as doctors, nutritionists and psychologists, for example, are trained to support lifestyle changes on an individual basis.
Change your future
To end the meeting full of information and tips, the policyholders watched a video which offered a powerful reflection: “How do you want to live the last 10 years of your life?”. The video was part of a Canadian campaign carried out by The Heart and Stroke Foundation years ago and is still very relevant today. Click here to watch it.
Based on this inspiration, further reflections were proposed to the live participants: “Wouldn’t you have more time if social networks were disconnected? How much time are we wasting on small pleasures linked to screens that don’t add quality to our lives? What choices are we making today that could influence our tomorrow?”
