On August 19, the Guaratuba Bridge project—being executed on the coast of Paraná by the Nova Ponte Consortium, composed of Odebrecht Engenharia & Construção, Carioca, and GEL—reached one of its most symbolic milestones since its beginning: the concreting of the last maritime pile.

This event marks the progress of one of the most important and challenging phases of the project, especially in the cable-stayed section, which required complex technical solutions due to geological conditions and the influence of the sea in Guaratuba Bay.

The project, scheduled for completion in April 2026, had its first pile concreted on May 17, 2024, and just over a year later, the last maritime pile has been finalized. Maritime piles are a fundamental part of the bridge’s foundation and represent the beginning of the entire structural support process, totaling 64 piles.

The bridge will have a 160-meter clear span to allow safe navigation for vessels. This section includes 24 piles, each with diameters ranging from 1.80 m to 2.20 m and lengths between 20 and 50 meters. They weigh an average of 350 tons, with some reaching up to 500 tons. In total, approximately 8,550 cubic meters of concrete were used—equivalent to more than 1,000 concrete mixer trucks—along with 770 tons of steel for reinforcement.

With this progress, the Guaratuba Bridge project has reached 70% completion, with advances also being made in the road access structures that will connect to highway PR-412 at both ends of Guaratuba Bay.
