Last Saturday, October 18, the construction site of the Amargosa maternity hospital received a visit from Jerônimo Rodrigues (Governor of the State of Bahia), who took the opportunity to officially sign the Service Order authorizing the construction of the facility.
The State Secretary of Health, Roberta Santana, who was also present at the event, highlighted the transformation that the new maternity hospital will bring to the region. “It was a need in the Jiquiriçá Valley — a regional maternity hospital to serve the 23 municipalities that make up this health territory. A maternity hospital designed for high-risk pregnancies, with 117 beds, to ensure essential care for mothers, equipped with modern technology, and to bring healthcare closer to the population,” she stated.
The project, currently under construction by the Mais Saúde Consortium — a partnership between OR and Construtora J Souto — is expected to be delivered within 18 months. Its goal is to become a reference center for high-risk pregnancies, offering inpatient and hospital care, as well as outpatient services and 24-hour gynecological and obstetric emergency care.
