FNO joins UNICEF’s National Pact for the Productive Inclusion of Young People
DATE: 07/29/2024
The Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) continues to strengthen its commitment to the development of young people, its main target audience, by being accepted as a member of the National Pact for the Productive Inclusion of Young People. The initiative, created in 2023 by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), aims to join forces to boost employability and vocational training for vulnerable young people in the country by 2030.
Among the participants are: Ambev, Banco do Brasil, Raízen Foundation, Magazine Luiza, Mercado Livre, Vale and Telefônica Vivo Foundation. “FNO’s membership, alongside so many agents of transformation, reinforces our reason for existing and the belief that we have a lot to contribute to the productive inclusion of young people, especially in the countryside, an extremely important issue for Bahia and the country,” said Fabio Wanderley, FNO’s Superintendent.
For the UNICEF representative in Brazil, Youssouf Abdel-Jelil, the union of different sectors is essential to guarantee the rights of adolescents and young people. “The signing of this Pact represents an important step towards ensuring that young people can reach their potential and access opportunities for training, work and income,” he said at the launch of the Pact in December.
Among the commitments of the Foundations and Institutes that are part of the National Pact for the Productive Inclusion of Youth is support for capacity-building and training programs for young people, helping them to develop skills and competencies that are relevant to the job market; and professional guidance and help for young people to establish important connections for this market. Actions already carried out by the FNO through PDCIS, its social program, and its volunteers in conjunction with companies in the Novonor Group.
