Horiens’ Leadership Development Program focused on emotional intelligence and included a partnership with Kronberg, a people management, behavior and leadership consultancy.

The last few years have brought major changes in labor relations, both in the way we relate to each other and in the complexity of the challenges we face in a world that is renewing itself all the time.

To reflect on this scenario and stimulate the creation of new competencies, the Horiens leadership team took part in the Leadership Development Program (PDL), whose central agenda was emotional intelligence in the day-to-day practice of leading teams.

“The consequences of the pandemic, the transformations resulting from the use of technology in everyday life, the relevance of mental health and all of today’s challenges require leaders to develop new skills,” explains Fernanda Antonelli, Officer of People, Communication and Marketing at Horiens.

In all, the PDL included six face-to-face modules, bringing knowledge and learning around topics such as emotional intelligence, trust, conscious leadership, the role of the leadership coach, effective feedback, engagement and positive psychology.

    Inspiring leaders, engaged followers

Carlos Aldan, CEO of Kronberg, a people management, behavior and leadership consultancy, was responsible for conducting the workshops at Horiens and highlighted the importance of inspiring leadership for caring for people, engagement and results.

“To be an inspiring leader, it is essential to develop and demonstrate empathy, clear communication, authenticity and, above all, to have a mindset of continuous learning, especially in relation to emotional intelligence,” explains Aldan. “A truly inspiring leader knows how to balance the demand for results with genuine care for employees,” he says.

“At Horiens, we have always believed in and encouraged the bonds of partnership between leader and led. This is a strong feature of our culture. From the true and deep relationship between leader and led, well-being, trust and delegation are possible and, then, the achievement of results,” adds Fernanda.

Check out the testimonies of some of our leaders who took part in this edition of the PDL:

    What inspired you?

“It was very interesting to learn about and delve into each of the pillars that are essential to building good leadership. I was impressed and reflective, for example, on the power of knowing how to give structured feedback, among many other tools!”

    On leadership today

“I consider it one of the greatest challenges of leadership to know how to truly connect with people. There is no generic formula and each human being is a universe. I understand that you have to have empathy and a genuine desire to build this relationship, which will always be unique with each person you lead.”

    What inspired you?

“Having the opportunity to learn more about leadership has oxygenated my vision in a very transforming way. Delegation with responsibility and empowerment, taking care to make decisions consciously, the importance of a relationship of trust and a positive mindset are all aspects we were able to delve into, with great insights and learnings.”

    On leadership today

“Every leader has the duty to pay attention to the different profiles of those they lead so that they can stimulate the best in each one. Knowing how to guide people to the right place, where they can develop and improve their strengths, is and will continue to be the main challenge and competence of a great leader.”

    What inspired you?

“I really enjoyed the practical and scientifically based approach to emotional intelligence and leadership styles. The way these concepts have been connected to the reality of the teams is incredible. I learned a lot, for example, about the concept of adaptive leadership and how to apply it in the most diverse situations.”

    On leadership today

“Today, there are major challenges such as remote management, generational diversity and rapidly changing scenarios. It’s crucial to know how to develop tools to create a healthy and collaborative work environment in which the team feels happy and engaged in order to generate results with the excellence we value.”
