The duplication works on the E/Lajeado Section of BR-386, carried out by the Via Sul Construction Consortium (CCVS) and located between the municipalities of Marques de Souza, Lajeado, and Estrela in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, have been completed as part of CCR ViaSul’s project to expand the capacity of the so-called Production Highway. With a total length of approximately 25 kilometers, the project is considered strategic for the state, as it concentrates intense vehicle traffic, reaching around 15,000 trucks per day transporting grain and industrial products during harvest periods.

At the peak of the project, 464 workers were directly involved in carrying out the works, which were executed in planned phases to reduce the impact on the local population and ensure safety throughout the entire process.

The duplication directly benefits rural producers and the agro-industrial sector by reducing logistical bottlenecks and ensuring faster and more efficient transportation of production from the northern part of the state to industrial hubs and ports. Transportation and logistics companies also benefit from reduced travel time and operating costs made possible by the new lanes and traffic facilities.

The municipalities of Estrela, Lajeado, and Marques de Souza now enjoy increased road safety, less congestion, and improved urban access through the implementation of service roads, underpasses, viaducts, return lanes, and pedestrian overpasses. The improved infrastructure also strengthens regional tourism and commerce by providing safer and more comfortable travel.

According to Márcio Prado, Production Manager, the execution of the project followed strict technical criteria with a strong focus on safety. “We completed the duplication of BR-386 between Estrela and Marques de Souza prioritizing safety and traffic flow. The work was carried out in stages to reduce impacts on urban areas: we began with earthworks and drainage to ensure stability, moved on to paving, and concluded with the construction of facilities such as viaducts, bridges, pedestrian overpasses, and service roads, improving urban access and eliminating conflict points,” he explains.

For Marcos Canuto, Works Manager, the delivery represents a milestone for the region. “We finalized the duplication of more than 20 kilometers, along with the implementation of new structures and safety devices, ensuring a modern and safe stretch.”

The completion of the duplication of BR-386 reinforces the commitment to improving road infrastructure, contributing to sustainable growth, regional integration, and the quality of life of the population. Ricardo Vieira, Contract Director of the Via Sul Construction Consortium, also commented on the important milestone of completing Section E. “The delivery marks significant progress for the region, bringing greater protection for drivers, better flow of production, and boosting economic and social development,” highlighted Ricardo Vieira.
