Braskem Makes A List of World’s Most Sustainable Companies
DATE: 11/07/2017
Braskem was recognized once again by the Carbon Disclosure Program (CDP), which selects the world’s best publicly traded companies in the categories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission management, water consumption, and forest use.
The company once again made the entity’s “A List” and is the only Brazilian company to earn the highest possible score in the climate rankings for the second time, and the water ranking, for the first time. As a result, it is one of 25 companies out of the total 2,452 evaluated to receive an A grade in the two rankings simultaneously.
For Jorge Soto, Sustainable Development Director at Braskem, the company’s presence among the top rated organizations is the result of its responsible use of natural resources. “We believe that our actions have a global impact and have already influenced some of our partners, suppliers, and clients,” he said. “It is inspiring to see so many companies taking bold actions to mitigate environmental risks and better understand the opportunities that come with the transition to a sustainable economy,” added Paul Dickinson, an executive from CDP.
How it Works
The CDP evaluation is one of the world’s most important and collects data on risks and opportunities associated with climate change from over 2,000 companies on all continents. The CDP questionnaire evaluates, using grades from A to D, categories like “disclosure,” “awareness,” “management,” and “leadership” from companies associated with gas emissions, water consumption, and the impact on forest preservation.
