Braskem highlights in Diversity
DATE: 06/25/2020
For the second time in a row, Braskem is featured in the Guia Exame de Diversidade magazine. The company has been recognized as the best company in the Chemical and Petrochemical sector, in an announcement made by the magazine on Thursday (4). Last year, the company had already been featured in the same category and figured among the brands with above-average scores in all the evaluated questions (gender), people with disabilities, ethnic-racial and LGBTI+).
The award is the result of Braskem’s continuous work, through the Diversity & Inclusion Program, which aims at to promote the inclusion of minority groups and a working environment free of prejudice and discrimination. In addition to transversal actions, the initiatives are carried out through five fronts: gender equity, socioeconomic, race and ethnicity, people with disabilities and the LGBTQIA community. “Braskem is a human-oriented company, and valuing diversity and inclusion is a fundamental part of our operating model. We believe in the potential of human diversity that are fundamental to generating more creative and Innovative teams”, highlights Debora Gepp, responsible for Braskem’s Diversity & Inclusion program.
Among the company’s initiatives to make its environments increasingly inclusive and their workforce more diverse, is the training and awareness of leaders and members in the theme and actions to increase black representation in the university internship program.
Diversity taken seriously
Besides the two consecutive features in the Guia Exame de Diversidade, Braskem’s performance in the fight against inequalities within the corporate environment has already been recognized in recent years. In 2019, the company received the UN Women’s Empowering Principles (WEPs) Award and the Will Award (Women in Leadership Latin America), highlighting companies with good practices in promoting gender equality and inclusion of women in leadership. Braskem was also recognized by Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, the largest global organization in favor of LGBTQIA+ rights in the workplace, as the best Brazilian company in the development of actions for the inclusion of this public, in 2018.
