BR-386 Duplication Works Complete Beam Lifting of the Bridge over the Porongos River

On July 31, the lifting of the four beams of the bridge over the Porongos River was completed. The bridge is located at km 222 of the BR-386, between the municipalities of Tio Hugo and Soledade, in Rio Grande do Sul. This operation marks an important milestone in the progress of the highway duplication works, a project carried out by the ViaSul Construction Consortium.

Special Engineering Structures (SES), such as bridges and viaducts, are essential components in the duplication of BR-386. They ensure the continuity of the highway in areas with river crossings, valleys, and intersections, while significantly contributing to traffic safety and flow.

Beam lifting is one of the most technical and delicate moments in bridge construction. Each beam is 40 meters long and weighs about 90 tons, requiring meticulous planning, the use of heavy equipment, and the work of a highly qualified team. Before the operation, several checks were carried out, including weather conditions, soil stability, support alignment, and area safety.

In the next 15 days, the lifting of the beams of the bridge over the Jacuí River and the Parclo Tio Hugo viaduct is scheduled. “These structures are true engineering landmarks on BR-386. They not only connect geographic points but also symbolize the advancement of infrastructure and the commitment to mobility in Rio Grande do Sul,” highlights Wilson Roschel, civil engineer responsible for the Special Structures of Segment B/C of the highway.
