Partner of Odebrecht Foundation, Earth Conservation Organization (OCT) was elected one of the 100 best NGOs in Brazil in an award promoted by Instituto Doar, the agency “O Mundo que Queremos” and Rede Filantropia. At the ceremony, held on November 18th in São Paulo (SP), OCT also received the award for the best NGO in the Environment category.
In its third edition, the award aims to highlight organizations that stand out the most for their transparency and management in their actions. In 2019, 757 entities were evaluated in 47 criteria, such as administrative and financial structure, the presence of management boards, fundraising and transparency.
Joaquim Cardoso, Executive Director of OCT, participated in the ceremony in the city of São Paulo and reinforced the importance of the achievement for the institution: “For OCT, the award for the best NGO gives us the certainty that we are on the right way. It is very positive to see that our procedures are adequate. We believe that our strategy of operating in a defined geopolitical space, in a position to be systematically monitored, was important for this award. The involvement of the community, the beneficiaries and the public authorities was also important,” he says.
OCT is one of the executors of PDCIS, Odebrecht Foundation’s Social Program that seeks to socially, economically and environmentally transform people’s living conditions by promoting actions in the area of education for the sustainable development, using the local vocation to leverage economic growth with social inclusion and environmental conservation. The Foundation was one of the companies registered for the award and was included in the list of the 400 best NGOs in Brazil (read more here).
