OEC wins new projects in United States and Panama

Odebrecht Engineering & Construction (OEC) won two new contracts in November: modernization works for the Port of Miami and Line 2 of the Panama City Metro. Learn more about these projects!
United States
In the United States, OEC won the project for infrastructure works to modernize the Port of Miami. With investment estimated at US$34.8 million, the project include the construction of a new structure required for the use of electrified rubber tire gantries (eRTG) to optimize and consolidate container storage. The project will support the revitalization of 20 acres of the port’s property for future construction of two new cruise terminals.
The infrastructure improvements include the installation of gantries that will enable an increase of up to 40% in container movements, new concrete runways, pavement marking and signage, drainage and reefer rack structure and foundations.
Panama
The contract for construction of the metro extension to connect Line 2 to the Tocumen Airport in Panama City was awarded to the consortium formed by OEC and Spanish-based FCC. The consortium was selected in an international public bid process after obtaining the highest technical and economic score. Two other consortiums and one company participated in the bid process.
The winning proposal was for US$102.9 million. Construction of the expansion is expected to be concluded in 28 months and includes the engineering design, construction and installation of lines and stations. Some 6,500 passengers per day are expected to use the future connection with the city’s airport.
