The UHN Consortium has received national recognition through a program developed by its client to promote solutions generated through active listening and employee participation in creating safer work environments and processes.

The award originated from a suggestion made by a scaffold assembler during a field interaction. The proposal prompted technical studies conducted by the Production and Occupational Safety teams, which assessed its feasibility and developed a solution for lifting loads with a hoist in elevated pipe rack areas.

Following technical validations and training for the teams involved, the new method was implemented, directly contributing to improvements in operational activities. The results achieved include increased productivity, reduced physical strain on employees, and strengthened safety conditions during the execution of services.

According to Contract Director Maria Alencar, the recognition demonstrates the importance of creating environments where employees have a voice and actively participate in building improvements.“Receiving this national recognition from our client is a source of great pride for the entire UHN Consortium. More than an institutional achievement, this result demonstrates the value of active listening and the leadership role of our employees. The idea originated in the field from the insight of an employee who experiences the challenges of the operation on a daily basis. When we create spaces to listen to people and transform their contributions into real improvements, we strengthen the culture of safety, innovation, and respect that we seek to consolidate within our organization. This recognition reinforces that the best solutions are often close to us, emerging from the experience and commitment of our teams.”

Production Manager Elson Carvalho highlighted the integration among the areas involved in transforming the suggestion into a practical, efficient, and safe solution.“This achievement demonstrates the strength of integrated work among Production, Occupational Safety, and operational teams. Based on the suggestion presented, we conducted technical studies, feasibility assessments, and training programs until we arrived at a safe and efficient solution for lifting loads in elevated pipe rack areas. The result was a significant productivity gain, combined with reduced physical effort for employees and improved safety conditions during the execution of activities. This recognition demonstrates that investing in employee participation is a fundamental path toward increasingly safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.”

Complementing this assessment, Production Supervisor Diego Bertoldo emphasized the engagement of the teams throughout all stages of development and implementation of the improvement.“The key differentiator of this initiative was precisely the participation of the people who carry out these activities every day. Developing the solution involved dialogue, testing, and continuous refinements until we achieved a result that delivered real gains to the operation. This recognition values collective work and shows that every contribution has the potential to generate positive and meaningful change.”

The initiative also included the participation of Foreman Alexsandro Maciel and Occupational Safety Assistant Dayane Martineli, a participant from the Autonomy and Income Program, who contributed to the development and field implementation of the solution.

For Sustainability Manager Ricardo Sudano, the award reinforces the connection between sustainability, valuing people, and continuous process improvement.“This recognition reinforces a principle that we consider essential: the most impactful transformations happen when people are heard and actively participate in processes. This initiative demonstrates that safety, productivity, and sustainability go hand in hand. When we foster an environment that values employee contributions, we create conditions for developing more efficient solutions, reducing risks, and generating lasting results for the operation. This national recognition reflects a culture that encourages ownership, innovation, and everyone’s commitment to continuous improvement.”

The national program developed by the client seeks to strengthen the safety culture through active listening, dialogue, and the appreciation of employee participation in identifying opportunities for improvement. The recognition received by the UHN Consortium highlights the importance of transforming perceptions and suggestions from the field into concrete actions, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and people’s safety.
