Enseada launches naval welding training program for women from the local community
DATE: 07/01/2026
On May 29, Enseada launched the Women in Production project, an initiative focused on advanced naval welding training that will benefit 20 women from the local community. The program reflects the company’s commitment to people development, the promotion of diversity, and the expansion of women’s participation in the shipbuilding industry.
The launch event marked the beginning of the participants’ journey, providing access to a 52-hour training program designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience aligned with the industry’s needs. The initiative offers an opportunity for technical improvement and hands-on experience in naval welding activities. It is important to note that the project is not a vocational training course, nor is it part of a recruitment or selection process. Its sole purpose is to develop participants’ skills, enhance their technical capabilities, and broaden their knowledge.
The opening event included welcoming activities, an institutional presentation, integration sessions, safety guidance, and participation from company leaders. Among those present was Roberto Silva, Project Manager, who emphasized the importance of the initiative for developing talent and expanding opportunities for women in a sector that has historically been dominated by men.
Throughout the program, participants will receive training on safety procedures, quality control, welding consumables, welding parameters, and technical specifications applied to shipbuilding. The course also includes practical workshop sessions focused on developing the skills required for barge manufacturing using the FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) process.
Beyond technical development, the project represents an important step toward increasing women’s representation in the shipbuilding industry. The initiative promotes inclusion and gender equity by expanding opportunities for women in the local community and strengthening diversity within the industrial environment.
The significance of the initiative is also reflected in the participants’ perspectives. For Antônia Cristina, the project represents an opportunity to overcome barriers that have historically limited women’s participation in predominantly male industries.
“This project, designed exclusively for women, represents much more than learning a profession—it is a way of breaking down historical barriers, since industry and welding have always been seen as spaces reserved for men. By participating, I gain knowledge and independence while showing that women have the ability, the skills, and the right to work in every field. Women’s inclusion in industry is essential because it promotes equal opportunities, values female talent, helps challenge stereotypes, and makes the labor market fairer.”
For Monica Muniz de Brito, the experience has been a source of satisfaction and hope for the community.
“I am loving being part of this project. It has been extremely important for me and is also creating a very positive impact within our community by breaking down barriers and prejudice.”
During the practical activities, participants will be monitored and assessed on the development of technical competencies, quality requirements, and safety practices, ensuring a learning experience that meets the standards of the shipbuilding industry.
The Women in Production project represents another Enseada initiative focused on developing people, promoting diversity, and advancing gender equity. By investing in the professional development of women from the local community, the company expands opportunities, strengthens talent, and contributes to building a more inclusive, innovative, and future-ready shipbuilding industry.
