DATE: 05/25/2026
A group of approximately 50 residents from the area surrounding the Gávea Station construction site, including representatives from the Gávea Residents’ Association (AmaGávea), the Madre Jacinta Residents’ Association (Amaja), as well as leaders from PUC-Rio, the Planetarium, and TECGRAF, participated in a visit to the metro construction works on May 17.
During the visit, the main milestones of the project were presented, along with details about the drainage and shaft excavation processes, information about the route of the line, the duration of the works, and explanations of how blasting operations are carried out. Participants observed the construction site and shafts from the outside and traveled by bus through the already excavated section to the central area of the future station. The visit contributed to bringing residents closer to the project and strengthening dialogue between the community and the technical team.
According to Janaina Feitosa, responsible for Communication and Social Responsibility at the Gávea Construction Consortium, the feedback from the initiative was extremely positive, reinforcing the importance of promoting dialogue, transparency, and community engagement. “We even noticed participants’ interest in recommending the visit to friends and family, highlighting the positive reception of the initiative. We remain committed to strengthening this relationship, turning challenges into opportunities through partnership and integration with our surrounding community,” she said.
