Enseada establishes partnership to generate income and strengthen surrounding communities
DATE: 02/04/2026
Enseada Indústria Naval celebrates another important advance in its socio-environmental responsibility agenda through a strategic partnership with Lemos Passos, the company responsible for the shipyard’s cafeteria services, and with ASMAD – the Fishermen and Shellfish Gatherers Association of the Quilombo do Dendê, in Maragojipe. The initiative enables the supply of fresh produce, with special emphasis on cassava processed at the association’s processing unit, promoting the social, productive, and economic inclusion of family farmers in the region.
The action directly benefits 30 families and approximately 100 rural farmers, who now gain structured access to the institutional market, generating income, strengthening economic autonomy, and valuing rural labor. Many of these producers, previously focused mainly on subsistence farming, are now expanding their marketing opportunities, reinforcing prospects for sustainable development for their families and communities.
The initiative also counts on the partnership of CESOL Salvador – the Public Center for Solidarity Economy, linked to the State Secretariat of Labor, Employment, Income, and Sports (SETRE) of the State Government. CESOL works to strengthen solidarity-based enterprises through technical assistance, training, support for commercialization, and encouragement of collective organization, with a focus on cooperatives and associations.
This institutional coordination is fundamental to consolidating a solidarity economy network based on the principles of self-management, cooperation, and the appreciation of local knowledge, promoting decent work and sustainable income generation.
The action is part of the Women of the Tides – Network of Knowledge project, under Enseada’s Fisheries Activity Sustainability Program (PSAP), which in 2025 expanded its scope to include family farmers, strengthening family agriculture and the solidarity economy in Maragojipe and Salinas da Margarida, and contributing to inclusive and sustainable territorial development.
According to Genilson de Jesus Pinheiro, President of ASMAD:
“My name is Genilson de Jesus Pinheiro, known as Preto do Dendê, and it is with great satisfaction that I speak to everyone about the partnership between the Dendê Fishermen and Shellfish Gatherers Association and the Enseada do Paraguaçu Shipyard. This partnership represents a great victory for the Quilombola community of Dendê and other Quilombola communities in the municipality of Maragojipe. This partnership already directly benefits 30 families working in rural agriculture, who are involved from planting to the processing of cassava. The future perspective is to reach approximately 100 families benefiting from this partnership, expanding sales with other community products, as everyone in the community is very enthusiastic.”
With initiatives like this, Enseada and Lemos Passos reinforce their socio-environmental responsibility toward the sustainable development of the territories where they operate, valuing people, traditional knowledge, and productive practices that help build a fairer, more inclusive, and more solidarity-based future.
