29The Casa Familiar Rural of Presidente Tancredo Neves (CFR-PTN), located in the Lower South of Bahia, was featured in a report aired on the October 26 edition of Globo Rural, on TV Globo, and has just received a new national recognition: it was selected for Criança Esperança 2026.

The school is one of 80 institutions across the country that will be supported by the Rede Globo and UNESCO project, which focuses on strengthening initiatives that guarantee the rights of children and adolescents and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is the fourth time that CFR-PTN has been selected by Criança Esperança, a recognition of the positive impact the institution generates in the development of young people from rural Bahia. A partner of the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) in the implementation of the Integrated and Sustainable Development Program (PDCIS), the school is also one of the beneficiaries of Tributo ao Futuro, a campaign that for 21 years has enabled the education of rural adolescents through the allocation of incentivized resources.

    Highlight on broadcast television

The report aired on Globo Rural presented the work carried out by the Casa Familiar and the strength of the Pedagogy of Alternation, an educational methodology that alternates periods of living at school with periods on the students’ family properties. For one week, students remain in a boarding-school regime, with theoretical and practical classes; during the following two weeks, they apply what they learned in their fields, accompanied by the school’s educators.

“Our main goal is to prepare these young people so that they learn to manage their property, handle their financial gains, plan their crops, and view their farm as a business,” explained Ivonete de Jesus, director of CFR-PTN. Student Anali dos Santos also shared her testimony during the TV story, highlighting how the learning process changed her relationship with the land: “Today I know how to collect and analyze soil, and I share this knowledge with people in my community. My wish is to stay in the countryside, because I know we can also have a dignified life here,” she said.

By promoting technical knowledge combined with community belonging, CFR-PTN helps transform the reality of hundreds of young people and farming families. Instead of leaving the countryside, these students put down roots and build their future within their own communities.

In addition to CFR-PTN, Tributo ao Futuro also supports the Casa Familiar Agroflorestal (CFAF) and the Casa Familiar Rural of Igrapiúna (CFR-I), all partners of the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation in executing the PDCIS — a program that has united education, sustainability, and local development in the Lower South of Bahia since 2003.
