Fifteen years ago, the idea of having a renewable polyethylene that could replace conventional fossil-based polyethylene in all its applications, produced on an industrial scale, became a reality with the launch of I’m green™ bio-based. Braskem is a pioneer and global leader in the production of biopolymers made from sugarcane, contributing to a carbon-neutral circular economy.

In 2024, the petrochemical company reached a historic sales record: 191 thousand tons, a 23% increase compared to the previous year—reflecting the growing importance of sustainable solutions. And Braskem intends to go beyond.

The company is focused on expanding its biopolymer production capacity, which currently totals 275 kt/year, to 1 million tons by 2030, avoiding the emission of 5 million tons of CO?. Its goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
