Braskem Inaugurates Puerto México Chemical Terminal
DATE: 06/06/2025
Braskem has just inaugurated the Puerto México Chemical Terminal, a robust solution addressing the logistical challenges faced by the Braskem Idesa Petrochemical Complex in Mexico.
Marking a significant leap in production capacity in the country, the Terminal reaffirms the company’s global relevance and advances its strategy to expand operations based on ethane.
A result of a joint investment between Braskem Idesa and Advario, the Puerto México Chemical Terminal has the capacity to receive and store 54,000 tons and transport 80,000 barrels of ethane per day. This meets the demand for raw materials and ensures Braskem’s full operational capacity in the region.
With the new Terminal, Braskem Idesa will produce 1.05 million tons of polyethylene per year in Mexico—the company’s largest global production at a single industrial unit.
This development reinforces Braskem’s resilience in the face of logistical challenges in the Mexican market and reaffirms its position as one of the world’s most important and innovative petrochemical companies.
