OEC and Blank IT have just been awarded by Avalara Brasil for IT projects implemented in 2024. The two companies entered a partnership last year to migrate tax solutions that impact the construction company’s day-to-day operations, especially regarding updates and integrations.

The choice of Avalara was based on the decision to look for a cloud solution, since migration to Oracle Cloud was a premise. Another factor that determined Avalara Brazil’s choice of OEC was the legal environment, since the frequent changes in legislation would require less effort from internal teams, as well as avoiding interruptions to the ERP’s operation.

According to Ygor Cézar, IT area leader at OEC, this was a joint effort by the IT, NSI and Tax teams. “These two awards, especially the Best Project of the Year award, are important because they show OEC’s relevance in Avalara’s client landscape and this helps us when it comes to developing new improvements to the platform and prioritizing our eventual problems when using the system, bringing greater agility to OEC. They reflect how complex this transformation project was, where we went from using five different tools to consolidating them in just one, which has brought not only financial gains, but also operational gains in terms of reducing system integrations and standardizing the use of the platform,” she says.

For Judy Andrade, also from the IT area, this was a challenging and complex project due to the volume of customizations and integrations required. “There was a challenge for the IT and Tax teams to keep the five solutions that met the Group’s scope in line with the recurring changes in legislation. By migrating to the cloud and unifying the platform, we were able to speed up support for the modules and tax support. Another difference was the partnership built with the supplier, which allows us to discuss continuous improvements with the product and engineering teams,” he adds.

OEC has been using three products from the suite offered by Avalara:

    – Tax Compliance: Tax solution with a combination of advanced technologies, such as cloud computing, containers and orchestration systems.

    – TaxDocs Monitor: Responsible for the process of capturing, validating and storing tax documents for goods and services. With it, the company doesn’t have to worry about the different standards adopted in the national territory, as the tax authorities’ environment is monitored (State and Municipal), capturing and reading the documents authorized against the company’s CNPJ.

    – Tax Central: Allows the visualization of all the obligations that the company needs to submit, in accordance with municipal, state and federal legislation. It avoids the risk of not paying a tax or even submitting an obligation. It also acts as a repository for all tax files, proof of delivery and other documents.

In addition to OEC and Blank IT, which won awards in the “Best Win-Back” and “Best Case of 2024” categories, Grupo ARG (Strategic ERP), Kavak-JDMS (Product Suite) and Enel X Brasil-Comtax (Integration) were also honored.

Avalara is a company that offers cloud-based compliance solutions that support all tax aspects of business processes. The company is headquartered in Seattle (USA), with offices in Canada, the UK, Belgium, Brazil and India.
