Continuing the campaign “Health. I share it!“, in celebration of World Health Day – April 7, Horiens promoted a live event on April 10th about quality of life with Denise Cavalcante, occupational health physician and coordinator at Novonor, and guest nurse Thais Marquezoni.

According to Denise, although the topic of quality of life is widely discussed, there are many fads on social media. This is why the objective, according to her, was to bring information to the members with a more technical approach. “People may feel that they don’t need to attend events like this because they believe that there is already a lot of information available on the Internet. It motivates us to address this subject today to bring technical knowledge in a way that people can understand,” said Denise at the opening of the live.

Next, Thais Marquezoni presented the concept of quality of life according to the World Health Organization and highlighted the main associated factors: the Being, which involves physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects. the Belonging, associated with social and coexistence issues; and the Becoming, which covers actions aimed at personal progress. “We are looking at quality of life as a whole, not just as a healthy body and a functioning mind. From the moment I evaluate my quality of life and see that there is something to be improved, it is necessary to make a behavioral change,” she commented.

According to the nurse, the five parameters that characterize the different lifestyles are eating habits, physical activity, stress control, relationships, and preventive behavior. For Thais, many people end up forgetting about prevention when they focus too much on the search for a healthy life. Thais also highlighted that people who eat well and engage in regular physical activity are also the ones who tend to forget to use sunscreen when exposed to the sun, or even neglect to wear a seatbelt.

“Having a correct posture in the work environment, such as wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary, is one way of prevention. The use of condoms, not driving under the influence of alcohol, avoiding tobacco use, having an annual check-up with routine consultations and exams, all of these are included in preventive behaviors,” added Thais.

And remember: all habits that improve the quality of life can and should be shared. Have you ever noticed that when you take care of yourself, you end up inspiring others to do the same?
