OEC starts construction of second contract signed in Peru
DATE: 09/14/2020
After having signed in April with the concessionaire IIRSA North its first contract in Peru after an interval of five years, this week work began on the second OEC project in the Andean country. There are two projects, this time signed with IIRSA South, one for the maintenance of 130 km of stretch 3 of the highway, between Planchón and Iberia, and another for the modernization of the signalization of the same road. The two contracts, together, will reinforce OEC’s backlog by more than US$ 23 million, with potential of US$ 200 million in new projects in both contracts, for the next 2 years.
IIRSA South’s maintenance work should be completed by December 2021, while the signalization work should be ready by mid-November this year. The current pavement of the highway was installed in 2008 and had an estimated useful life of ten years, making it necessary for the service now contracted to maintain the quality conditions of the road and the safety of its users.
