After deliberation and approval by the Board of Directors, engineer Mauricio Cruz Lopes (47), until then Managing Director of OEC for Latin America, takes over as president of the construction company.

During his 25-year career at the holding company Novonor, where he began as an intern, Maurício has acquired solid experience in Brazil and abroad, working in engineering and construction, in real estate projects for OR and as CEO of OLI, the group’s branch for investment and operation of infrastructure concessions in Latin America. He has led several large and highly complex projects with public and private clients, some in consortiums and partnerships with Brazilian, Peruvian, European and American companies. In recent years, he played a central role in the corporate transformation (turnaround) of OEC, including the stabilization of the operation in the Peruvian market, as well as in the financial restructuring of the Novonor Group through the completion of asset sales and equity investments (M&A’s), such as the Chaglla Hydroelectric Plant in Peru.

The executive replaces Marco Siqueira, who completed 15 years as a member of Novonor, and was OR’s CEO between 2018 and 2020, when he assumed the presidency of OEC, until this date. Under his leadership, OEC has completed another cycle of its resumption, maintaining its integrity and governance systems at the highest international standards, these being recognized with the certifications of the monitoring bodies and the international seal ISO 37001. In addition, he was able to successfully complete the financial restructuring of US$ 3.5 billion of debt guaranteed by  OEC and expanded its project portfolio by US$ 1 billion. After completing the natural transition process with Mauricio Cruz, he will move on to new professional and personal challenges, preserving his important spirit of partnership with the Novonor Group.

The OEC Board of Directors thanks Marco Siqueira and wishes him good luck and great achievements in his new career. At the same time, it expresses its confidence in Mauricio Lopes and the entire OEC team in overcoming new challenges and strengthening the ongoing journey of sustainable growth.
